Supersort United won the league three seasons in a row with Gavin Hunt as a coach and them and Bidvest wits are league contenders that was dominated by three South African big teams Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates and Memelodi Sundowns until this 2016/17 season when Gavin Hunt led Bidvest wits to win the league for the first time ever in ninety-six years in the top flight.
One of South Africa's most decorated player Daine Klate is part of the Bidvest wits squad to win his sixth league title and his tactical coach Gavin Hunt whom he won three league titles with at Supersort United built a quality experienced squad with the likes of former colleague at Supersort United Elias Pelembe and the likes of Dillon Sheppard who retired with a league title on his books and experienced keeper Moeneeb Josephs in the squad made it possible for Wits to win the league with the mix of quality young stars in their team.
The 2016/17 season was impressive and unpredictable which brings people's interest to watch and support the game
Best season for SA football with such improvement and dedication to keep our football alive and interesting to watch, which will help our national team to be compact and exalt on the world rankings with the competition of players on high a intensive to get a call up to represent the national team.
